Personal Details
about me
I am a graduate from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, with a bachelor of arts in journalism and a minor in criminal justice.
Since graduation in 2001, I've had experience working for my mother's jewelry manufacturing company as a Public Relations and Marketing Representative/Administrative Assistant, marketing her merchandise to existing and new clients at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and various vendors in Northwest Florida and nationally. Along with gaining a broad understanding of marketing and public relations, I was involved in event planning, developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, and handling all administrative duties.
As a public relations spokesperson, I gained communication experience in media relations, public relations training, presentations and oral communication, writing articles and special events training.
After leaving my mother's company to venture out on my own, I furthered my public relation experience, working as an Interim Community Representative/Donor Recruiter, for the Northwest Florida Blood Center.
While working for this organization, I was a representative of a non-profit blood center that serves 17 hospitals in Northwest Florida with blood and blood products. I gained community awareness by working as a spokesperson for the company, while forming relations with business owners by holding community meetings and speeches, and working directly with the Chamber of Commerce, the media and military to promote the importance of blood donation.
Along with creating public service announcements for radio stations and developing press releases to Northwest Florida papers about upcoming blood drives and donations, I was responsible for setting up blood drives and recruiting donors around the community.
Working both before and during college, I have amassed five years of solid sales records and skills in customer relations and have become proficient in various administrative duties such as customer calling, billing/payroll, faxing, filing, record keeping of customer accounts by data-entry, along with learning several computer skills.
My computer knowledge includes experience with Quark Xpress 4.1, Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and BBCS (Blood Bank Component System) for health department use.
As a result of my journalistic background, I have strong oral and written communicationskills and excellent organizational, time-management, and reporting skills.
My degree in communications has also given me a wide variety of experience in other aspects of media such as public affair issues, media relations, governmental conventions and public speaking. I have also have had stories published in my university paper, The Knightwire.
I live in the Northwest Florida. However, I'm willing to relocate upon any job offer. I would like a chance to arrange a meeting with you to discuss any openings you may have concerning this position or others that meet my qualifications.
